Can't I just run a free scan myself?
You can, and sometimes it catches the obvious stuff. But a single scan often misses the pieces that reinstall the infection after a reboot, startup entries, scheduled tasks, browser hooks. That's why it 'comes back.' We dig those out by hand and close the hole it came in through, which a one-click scan doesn't do.
Will I lose my files?
We put your files first and save them wherever the infection allows it, photos, documents, all of it, before we clean. Most of the time everything comes through fine. If it's ransomware that genuinely encrypted your data, we'll be straight with you about what's recoverable and what isn't rather than promise something we can't deliver.
There's a ransom screen asking for money. Should I pay it?
Don't pay it, and don't click anything on it. Paying rarely gets your files back and marks you as someone who'll pay again. Text us a photo of the screen before you do anything else and we'll tell you what we're looking at and what your options are.
How do you keep it from coming back?
