Disc not loading? Console grinding? Disc stuck inside? Disc drive failure is one of the most common console repairs we see, and one of the most fixable. Most issues are belt, gear, or sensor failures that are repairable for a fraction of replacement-console cost.
Most fixes are inexpensive belt or gear replacements ($10-30 in parts). Full drive replacements run higher because PS4 / PS5 drives are paired to the motherboard, we use specialized tools to re-pair the new drive to your console without losing your account, save data, or installed games.
Heads up on PS5 specifically: vertical-stand suction issues are real and not actually a drive failure. We will check that first and refuse to charge you if all you need is to mount the console horizontally.
Sony charges xc2xa3$200+ for a PS5 disc drive replacement. We do the same swap for $75 plus the cost of the drive (around $80-130), typically half what Sony charges with much faster turnaround.
Tell us your model and what is happening (stuck, grinding, no read, ejecting). We will quote part + labor before any work.
If you don't see yours listed, just text us a photo, we work on most makes and models.

$75 labor + the part. Belt/gear repairs are typically $10–30 in parts (under $110 total). Full drive replacement runs $80–130 for the drive (around $155–205 total). We diagnose first and tell you which one you need.
Sony does not actually repair drives, they replace the entire console. They charge replacement-console pricing ($300+) for what is functionally a drive swap. We do the swap directly with the right tools, which is why we are about half the price.
Yes. Drive repair / replacement does not touch the storage. All save data, installed games, and account data remain. PS4/PS5 drives are paired to the motherboard, we re-pair the new drive to your console to keep everything intact.
If a single disc misbehaves, yes, try cleaning the disc (we offer disc resurfacing for $5). If multiple discs fail, the drive is the issue. The other clear sign: console grinding noises during disc reads point at the drive, not the disc.
That one we cannot "fix", it is a design flaw where vertical orientation can cause liquid metal between CPU and heatsink to slide and break a seal. Solution: mount the console horizontally, period. We will tell you for free if that is what you are dealing with.
