Dust + Thermal Repaste

About Our Console Deep Cleaning

Console fans loud enough to drown out the TV? Random shutdowns mid-match? Console runs hot to the touch? After 2-3 years of normal use, every console packs the heatsink full of dust and the original thermal paste dries out. A deep clean brings most consoles back to factory-quiet.

  • 🌬️Factory QuietAfter cleaning + repaste
  • 💰$75 FlatIncludes thermal paste
  • 2-3 DaysIncludes stress-test cycle

What we do: full disassembly to the motherboard, every fan removed and individually cleaned, heatsink dust scrubbed out, fresh high-quality thermal paste applied, careful reassembly, then a stress-test cycle to verify temps under load before we hand it back. About 2 hours of bench time spread across 2-3 days for the test cycle.

Liquid metal repaste add-on (+$25): for PS5s especially, we can apply liquid metal instead of standard paste, better thermal performance, lasts longer. Recommended if your PS5 is your daily driver and you game a lot.

People come in convinced their console is dying. 80% of the time it is just dust + dried paste. A $75 cleaning is the difference between a $500 PS5 you trash and one that runs perfect for another 3-4 years.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often in the shop. Still stuck? Text us a photo and we'll get back to you fast.

Will deep cleaning fix my console fans being loud?

Yes, about 90% of "loud fan" issues are dust and dried thermal paste. The fans are running at max because the console is overheating; clean the path and reapply paste, the fans drop to normal speed automatically.

How is this different from blowing out vents with canned air?

Surface cleaning gets the dust YOU can see at the vents, not the dust packed into the heatsink fins underneath. We disassemble all the way to the motherboard, clean every fin, individually clean each fan blade, and reapply thermal paste. It is a different level of work.

What is liquid metal and is it worth $25 more?

Liquid metal is a gallium-based thermal compound that conducts heat better than standard paste, typically 10–15°F lower temperatures under load, and it does not dry out. For PS5s especially (which have known thermal issues from factory), the upgrade is worth it. For Xbox Series X/S, standard paste is plenty.

Will my game saves be safe?

Yes. We do not touch storage during a deep cleaning, motherboard work only. All save data, installed games, and account data remain untouched.

How often should this be done?

Every 2–3 years for normal use. Sooner if you live in a dusty environment, have pets, or smoke nearby. PS5s in particular benefit from earlier cleaning because of their original-paste pump-out issues.
