Charging port acting up is one of the most common phone repairs we see. Sometimes it is just lint packed in (free to $10 cleaning). Other times the port itself is damaged and needs replacement, soldered work that runs $50–$150 depending on the device.

First step: we always check for lint and debris. About 70% of "broken" charging ports are actually just packed full of pocket lint that has compressed against the contacts. Quick cleaning is often free, or $10 if there is nasty material packed in.
If cleaning does not fix it, we replace the port, soldering work that requires our soldering rig and the right replacement port for your model. Most charging ports are $50–$100 in labor plus the port part.
Before paying for a "broken" charging port, let us check it for free. Most of the time it is lint or debris, we will tell you straight up if your port actually needs replacement work.

Why is your charging port cleaning free or cheap?
Because most of the time it is, we just dig out lint with a small tool, takes 30 seconds. It feels unfair to charge $35 for that. If there is genuinely nasty material packed in (food, dirt, gunk), we charge $10 for the extra cleaning time.
When is it cleaning vs port replacement?
We check the contacts visually first. If the port is full of lint and contacts look intact, cleaning fixes it. If pins are bent, broken, or corroded, we need to replace the port.
How much for actual port replacement?
Varies by device. Most Samsung Galaxy USB-C with daughter-board design are $75–$100 total. iPhone Lightning replacements are typically $100–$150 because they are soldered to the main board.
How long does port replacement take?
1–2 days. Most port replacements take 1–2 hours of bench time, plus stress-testing the charging at multiple wattages before we hand it back.
Can I prevent charging port damage?
Yes: do not yank the cable out, use the right cable for your device (cheap cables put more stress on ports), and clean lint out periodically. Compressed air or a wood toothpick gently used can prevent buildup.
